I really would like to keep to a regular blogging schedule, I just don’t always have that much to say. Often, a piece or an idea I’m working on takes a long time to come together, and there just isn’t much to share on a weekly basis. I also have a full time desk job, and sitting in front of a computer isn’t really what I want to do on my off time.
I’ve always enjoyed writing though, and it takes practice to do it well. Obviously I need a lot of practice! I’ve been considering starting a blog separate from jewelry, but again, I’m not sure I really have that much to say. What would I write? Random musings, book/movie reviews, how NOT to cut your hair at home?
For now, I’ll stick with jewelry and try to be more consistent. Last Friday, I entered two submissions for the June goimagine maker challenge, Let’s Get Tropical. I was not a finalist, but that isn’t really why I participate. The challenges often inspire me to create something I would not have otherwise come up with, and also it is a fun motivational tool with a hard deadline, and I tend to put things off, especially when I am struggling with them.
I have been focused on air dry clay, and one of my submissions was the pair of air dry clay earrings I’ve posted about earlier (https://mieloabelo.com/good-news-to-share/), but I found myself thinking about copper one evening, which I haven’t worked with in a very long time, at least not in this way. I really like the end result and made a reel and also a YouTube short of part of the process.
It is available in my shop, and there are a couple of additional pictures: https://mieloabelodesigns.com/copper-tropical-flower-pendant-necklace/
Here is the YouTube short:
