This past weekend, the International Gem and Jewelry Show was in Austin, I think maybe for the first time ever. I had planned to go in Houston a couple of years ago, but COVID happened, and the show did not. My friend who accompanied me, a long-time attendee, said it was much smaller this year. I don’t know if that is due to the ongoing pandemic, but I do know it was big enough for me. I was in full sensory overload! I had hoped to be inspired after a long period of stagnant creativity, but there was so much, I was simply overwhelmed. I walked away from so many beautiful beads because I didn’t know what I would do with them, and I currently have bins full of beads I haven’t used. However, I did find a couple of interesting focal pieces, and while I was at an inspiration standstill at the show, when I got home, the juices magically started flowing again. I may make some changes, but it was nice to get some ideas and translate them into reality.
