Recently, my focus has been on necklaces, and I’ve posted a couple that I finished this week in the Gallery. I have several projects in my head and on my bead board as usual; however, today, I decided to go in a completely different direction and experiment with my web cam. I’ve never filmed myself making jewelry, or anything really, so this was a first. I have a desktop computer, and while the USB cable on the camera is long, it isn’t quite long enough to offer many options for placement. I had to improvise by taping my camera to a vise and it still isn’t quite high enough, so that is something I am going to think about.
For the project, I decided to get out my Big Shot embosser since it’s been a while and make a pair of earrings. Earrings are perfect for incorporating metal, and I have a ton of pre-cut blanks, so it seemed like a good place for me to start my first venture into film making.
Here is my finished design:
And here is how I got there:
This is for entertainment purposes only. I am not an instructor. There are many great tutorials out there on YouTube in case anyone wants to learn how to do this. I am posting my experiences in part for my own future reference and also to share what goes into my jewelry making design process. I hope it is fun to watch!
