I’ve never been as consistent as I intend to be at keeping up with blogging, and over the last few months, all of my social media interaction has taken a back seat to life. Between family stuff involving some out of town trips and my full-time job, I haven’t had the time or the energy to come up with content or even create new items.
I am also back in the office most of the week, which is a big change from my previously mostly work from home schedule. Trying to reorganize certain things, such as exercise and eating habits, is proving more challenging than I expected, and my motivation has withered.
However, I’m not here to complain, so enough of that. I have had a break lately from weekend obligations, so I have taken some time to make some things. My last post https://mieloabelo.com/a-spring-theme-is-in-the-air/ was about spring themed jewelry, and we are already mid-July in the heat of summer. I have been trying to create a summer theme, and I have some ideas to bring some bright colors into some pieces, but have sort of continued to lean toward more muted tones.
One of the things I would like to improve is my understanding of analytics and how to use them, although I don’t want to be hyper focused on selling. I didn’t get into this to be a high volume seller. I just want to make what I want to make and sell what sells. On the other hand, analytics can provide me a direction when I am wondering what to make next.
Recently, I noticed that over the last two month, people have been looking at earrings in my shop, and sadly, I have not been making earrings since the holiday market in December. My selection is really grim! I may have lost a sale or two, but hopefully the lookers will return because I decided that was where I need to focus. Besides, earrings are all-weather accessories. Your neck and wrists might sweat, but your earlobes are probably going to stay dry!
Earrings are super fun to make and wear, but they also do take me a while to make, sometimes longer than a necklace. I feel like more goes into an earrings design whereas a necklace often repeats patterns once I know what I want it to look like and have chosen the components. I try to pair impact with simplicity in an earring design.
